Green Building in Colorado
To
build green or not to build green, is not the question.
The question is, how much sense it makes to include
“green” in your project.
First, let’s define green building. In is simplest form,
it is using products, which are recyclable, and by using
techniques and materials which are energy efficient. So
why would everyone not do that? The answer is cost. One
must look at the amount of benefit compared to the
additional cost to obtain that benefit. This is nearly
always a personal decision, which should be made by the
owner. Sometimes, especially in remodeling, it does not
make sense to spend a lot of extra money for a small
amount of benefit. Holladay Brothers Construction, Inc.
recommends a more in depth look at cost and benefit as the
size of the project increases. In very small projects the
cost of green building is seldom offset by the benefit.
Secondly, green building includes the use of materials,
which were manufactured using processes that cause the
least amount of damage to the environment. This will
include products made from recycled materials, and
products, which do not use excessive energy in their
production. Holladay
Brothers Construction, Inc. will always endeavor to
use materials and techniques which are environmentally.
